DonateDe and The Journey Church present the Sheet Drive for Lives charity event on Sunday, April 26th from 2-5 p.m.
This event will be happening simultaneously in the parking lots of The Journey Church at 721 E. Chestnut Hill Road in Newark, DE and also at Middletown High School located at 120 Silver Lake Road in Middletown, DE.
We are asking the public to donate any clean sheets that you can. With each sheet donated, our group of over 2,200 volunteers will make appropriately 25 handmade masks to give back to our community.
Our goal is to help supply our first responders, health care organizations, the elderly, veterans and the homeless with any resources they need as they struggle to procure necessary equipment to meet COVID-19 demands and also many other issues.
Our volunteers want to make sure every person who needs a mask can have access to one to prevent any further exposures from this pandemic!
100% cotton solid color sheets are preferred but not required. Baby sheets work well as mask filters also.
The first 100 sheet donors at each location will be given a free surgical mask for helping us.
A huge thank you to Nixon Medical in New Castle for helping make this a success. They have volunteered to wash and sanitize all the donated items for free before they are used for masks.
Organizations like this are setting the standard for our community to come together and help each other during times of need.
Monetary and personal protection equipment donations will also be accepted at both locations.
Our first responders also still badly need masks, disposable medical gowns, elastic for masks, medical face shields, medical swabs for testing, and almost any other types off P.P.E. we can have donated to help our 911 community.
STRICT NO CONTACT social distancing guidelines will be followed during the drop off.
